Brunel

Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s vast achievements and his genius as a designer have made him one of the giants of British history – and the most celebrated engineer of all time.

Beginning an extraordinary career in the railways aged just 26, he went on to oversee the design and construction of 1,400 miles of track, including elegant and innovative stations, bridges, viaducts, tunnels and routes. Most of the railway and the structures he created remain in use as part of our modern network, 200 years after his birth.

He is probably bets remembered for his construction work for the Great Western Railway, the 110 mile long line from London to Bristol.
