Airdrie Bathgate Rail Link Project
Network Rail is delivering one of the most significant railway investments of this generation in Scotland by re-opening the Airdrie-Bathgate passenger rail link after 50 years of closure. The £300 million project funded by Transport Scotland involves upgrading the existing lines between Bathgate and Edinburgh and re-constructing 15 miles of railway line between Airdrie and Bathgate. Once completed, the line will be double-tracked and electrified from Edinburgh to Glasgow, creating many social, economic and environmental opportunities for people living in Scotland’s central belt.
